Gunder Jensen Bratlien married Anna Cathrine Steinveg about 1849. The parents of Anna Cathrine were Martin Petersen Steinveg and Anne Christine Brunn. Here is the death record for Martin Petersen Steinveg. His parents are listed as Lorenz Steinseg and Catharina Simonsdatter.

Martin Peter Steinweg

And so this is likely a death record for Loretz Steinweg. Gives a little idea who his parents are. Looks like he was married twice.

Back to your Norwegian Ancestors. The wife of Jens Gundersen was Ingebor Arnesdatter. It was her second marriage. The Bratlien farm name likely came into the family through her. Here is a record of her first marriage to a Niels Hansen in early 1801.

Link

Here is the original record, see the first record under 1801.

Link

The first husband Niels Hansen died in 1812

Link

And as we showed on the first page Ingebor Arnesdatter married Jens Gundersen in 1813.

Link

Ingebor is the daughter of Arne Knutsen and Marit Jonsdatter, Odde

Ingebor was baptized on Dom 18 p Trinitas in 1775. That date is Oct 15, 1775. The original record is one the right hand page, the fifth record down.

Link

Here is the family of Arne Knudsen and Marit Johnsdatter on the Odde farm in the 1801 Census. By this time of course Ingebor is already gone and married Niels Hansen her first husband but you an see that they still have a very big family at home.

1801

You can take this family back a few more generations in time with this family tree on Geni.com. As always you need to have some caution with online trees with little or no sources but the birth year for this Arne Knutsen matches well with the data from the 1801 Census.

Thanks again. I'm amazed at how much information has been saved. Are there places to find photographs too?
