Dawson City and Klondike..., Rasmus Thompson was likely a gold miner in Yukon, although most of them had left years before 1906...

This is all awesome info and I only have ancestry so far. I was showing Debs Tree and what Ive found so far if the link works? Her Dad Harvey died in a military air crash when she was three. This is why we are trying to look back to build her tree. Rasmus it looks only had one child Roy. But what was Rasmus family is the Norway Key? Ill keep looking and if I can find a tree that links that will be great. What could have been his name before?

The norwegian equivalent for Thompson would be Thomassen, but until Rasmus is located in any norwegian record, Thomassen is just a best guess. In worst case, his original lastname could be too hard to pronounce in America, and thus he changed it to Thompson. But likely; Rasmus' father was either named Thomas as first name, or Thomassen as last name.
Thompson means "son of Thomas".

I don't have access to ancestry.com. Is it possible you could summarize the matching cousins here?

So Debs Grandfather was Roy Earl Thompson born 1906 Alaska. As far as we know they have no ties to Minnesota always in Sf and Oakland Bay area. california only. On Debs DNA it says Sothern Norway and list some areas but again havent figured how to atttach pics.

Census-1910 says Rasmus left Norway in 1880. The Goldrush in Yukon started in 1896. Where was he between 1880 and 1896? For sure not Yukon. He was a sailor, but could have lived in Minnesota or any other State incl, Canada.
